You don't need to venture as far as the Margaret River Region to find a top quality drop of vino. The Swan Valley - one of Australia's oldest wine-growing regions - is right on Perth's doorstep and produces some of WA’s best boutique wines, including crisp whites, fruity reds and an established tradition of fortified winemaking. Situated only a short drive from Bennett Springs, we highly suggest rounding up the crew and taking a winery tour this weekend.
Mandoon Estate
One of the Swan's newest boutique wineries, Mandoon Estate has quickly become a favourite amongst locals. Pull up a chair at the stylish restaurant (casting the spotlight on local produce with dishes like the Beef with Swan Valley Asparagus) or for something more laid back, find a patch of grass at the sunny outdoor beer garden with a range of wood fired pizzas and craft beers on tap.

Sitella
Set amongst idyllic rolling vineyards, Sitella is easily one of the Swan Valley's most charming spots. Stop in for a cellar door tasting and you'll find it difficult choosing a favourite from their range of sparkling, or stay for lunch at the Tuscan inspired restaurant. Try the risotto with roasted Mediterranean veggies, and ask the knowledgeable staff to recommend an accompanying drop.

Sandalford
Established in 1840, Sandalford was one of Perth's very first wineries and continues to produce an impressive range of quality boutique wines. The Swan Valley Cellar Door is open from 10am-5pm daily, where you can sample their range of summery whites and rich oaky reds. Our tip: get in early as this place is a popular spot on weekends

Houghtons
Another longstanding WA winery, Houghtons is an essential cellar door stop while in the area. Famous for their crisp, fresh, citrusy whites and rich, fruity reds, here you're guaranteed to find something to please the palate. Stay for a relaxed lunch at Houghton Cafe with an ever-changing seasonal menu of share plates, hearty mains and accompanying sides.

Lamonts Swan Valley
