Mirvac's National Community Day!
Every year, one day is dedicated to give back to the communities in which Mirvac operates in and to support and further the important work of charities working in these areas. National Community Day sees hundreds of Mirvac employees leave their desks, or work sites, to lend their skills and passion to go out and volunteer.
This year’s focus was to build stronger connections within local communities, as such Brockman Community House, a not for profit neighbourhood centre in Beechboro that provides parenting programs, child services and adult education, was chosen as one of the charities to partner with. Brockman’s close proximity to Iluma Private Estate and the valuable resources they provide to people in the local area, was something Mirvac wanted to support. Ahead of the Christmas period which is often financially stressful for many families and people experiencing hardship, Brockman Community House organised food donations to help those most in need.
As part of National Community Day, Mirvac employees lent a helping hand to source, sort, pack and distribute food hampers. The team set-up at the Iluma Private Estate sales office and sorted through the extremely generous food donations from SecondBite, local supermarkets, businesses and individuals.
From fresh fruit and vegetables to pasta, rice, snacks and kids’ toys, over 165 hampers were put together thanks to the overwhelming support of locals. These were then delivered to other not for profit community groups which in turn distributed them to vulnerable individuals and families.
